Grade Averages

Two grade averages are calculated at the end of each term of study:

  • A term grade average (TGA), based on all courses that earn grade points taken in a term of study
  • A cumulative grade average (CGA), based on all courses that earn grade points taken since first registration as an undergraduate student up to that point

Grade points are assigned for most courses. Courses graded under the distinction/pass/fail grading system and the pass/fail grading system, and courses designated as AU (audited), I (incomplete), PP (permitted to proceed), T (Transferred) or W (withdrawal without penalty) do not count in the calculation of any grade point average.

Repeated Courses

Students who receive an F grade in any course may request to repeat the course to improve their grade. Otherwise courses may not be repeated to improve grades.

F grades will appear on your transcript, but where a course is repeated, the previous F grade will not be included in the calculation of grade averages.

A failed course may be repeated only once. You may also repeat a course from which you withdraw.
